Using After Effects to Paint Texture Maps?

July 28, 2009 at 4:14 pmHi everyone,
I am setting up a workflow for texturing an organic character, which is usual for me because I typically use 3D for doing product animation (bottles, boxes, buildings, etc). Anyhoo, I am starting to familiarize myself with BodyPaint and am extremely impressed with the seamless workflow between it and Photoshop. Since I am not a strong illustrator, and am extremely familiar with masking and paint in After Effects, I was wondering if it may be wise to mesh the two and make my textures in AE while doing touch-up work in BP. I know that this may sound unconventional, but it is a great way to streamline things, and was wondering if anyone had an opinion or any cautionary words on the matter.
Thanks in advance!
