  • Using a texture for hair – not working

    Hey guys,

I’m trying to apply a PNG image onto every blade of grass created with hair – I use the PNG in the TEXTURE field of the COLOR channel. But when I render, the blades take on the general colors of my PNG, without any detail. Help please?

    Thanks!

    Howdy,

I’m not sure what’s up with the texture slot in the hair material. I can’t get it to do anything useful either. I think what you’ll have to do is set one of the geometry options in the hair object’s generate tab (Type: Flat, for example) and then place a regular Cinema material on the hair object (with flat or cubic mapping).

if you apply the image to the roots the entire bed of hair is coloured via the image, if you make the Hair Flat (or one of the other shapes) it’s now geometry and you would apply the image in a separate material which you attach to the Hair object if you want the image to run along each hair.
