  • Using a shape layer as a layer mask? (CS2)

Posted by Eric Chard on July 26, 2012 at 1:07 am

Anyone recall how to use an editable Shape Layer (i.e. not rasterized) as a Layer Mask in Photoshop?

(CS2 only if it makes a difference.)

    Tnx!

I don’t have CS2 but you should be able to just place the shape layer below the layer you want to clip and Alt+click (or right-click) between the two layers in the layer panel to create a clipping mask out of the shape layer.

You can copy the vectors on the shape layer and paste them into a Vector Mask on a layer. The Vector Mask is separate from a Layer Mask though.
