using a boole with a cloner
I am searching for a way to create a grid of clones in the shape of a head. I want the smooth curves of the face to be accurate on the outer clones and then animate the cubes using effectors.
I created something close to what I want using rectangular bars(see attached video), but I need to find a more efficient way to do it.
Here is a brief description of my work flow:
I used a boole object to create the smooth surfaces on the clone grid with a model of a head.
I then made the boole editable, (BTW, Deselecting “create single object” does not result in the cubes staying cubes on the perimiter)
I then had to select the geometry of each bar and “split” it out into its own object.
I then put the separate rectangular bar objects into a fracture object set to “straight” and was able to animate with effectors.
I now need to repeat this but with a grid of cubes instead of the long bars that I used in the video.
It took quite a while to do the bars. the cubes would be daunting.
Do any of you bright people out there, know of an easier way to do this.
I need to repeat this look on several different objects and time is an issue.
Please see attached project file for reference.
