February 6, 2012 at 9:25 pm[Thomas Frank] “I understand but why not move or copy and then delete the Event?
If it can be done in 7toX in the first place then go for it but if you can’t copy – move – delete or just command move in Finder.
😉
“How does that save anything? You still have to go A to B to A whether that’s through Finder or FCPX. it’s still physically moving all the data around.

February 6, 2012 at 9:28 pmWell if the App can’t do it (can it) what other choice do you have?
It’s not like moving file is not moving a office bldg. 😉 -

Pretend your project was 2TBs in media. Would you want to move 2TB or 4TBs?

February 18, 2012 at 8:24 pmIt’s great to know such a crucial app was developed. I can’t figure how Apple could (or would) not include the feature as a standard one in their release, since it’s feasible with a 8,00 USD app, leaving room for so many complaints and possibly customers migrating to other systems. Well, that, and the new beta drivers for Blackmagic design, lead me to buying FCP X today.

My guess, and if you read between the lines, Apple said that they could not transfer an FCP7 project to FCPX with “perfect fidelity”. From the now defunct FAQ, “there is no way to “translate” or bring in old projects without changing or losing data”.
And they are right. 7toX is awesome, but the resulting translation isn’t perfect. It’s very high quality, and gets you really really close and is completely usable, but it’s not perfect. My guess is the Apple didn’t want to take on that responsibility and then have to support it.
the nice thing about 7toX is that if you do have some issues, they are very accessible and will take a look at the problems that need solving.
