  • Using 4k footage in 1080p timeline without compressing (for optimal stabilization)

Posted by Jan-joost Van stiphout on June 15, 2014 at 9:13 pm

When I import my 4k footage into a 1080p timeline will Final Cut compres that footage to 1080p or does it stay 4k? With other words, can I scale and stabilize my footage during the edit proces without losing quality?

    Thank! J-J

It stays 4k. You can use the spatial conform function set to none to move the full 4k raster around, inside of the 1080 canvas.
