    I have a 1920 x 1080 60i NTSC project on FCP 7. Client gave me a bunch of AVI movie files – 720 x 576 25fps DV/DVCPRO PAL. Using Streamclip I made .mov files using Apple ProRes 422 – still at 25fps.

I’m using the converted footage in the edit and exporting for client review. The two frame rates seem to be working fine together. BUT final output will most likely be NTSC DigiBeta. Other Creative Cow queries seem indicate that I need to convert the PAL clips to NTSC. Did my export to Apple ProRes constitute a ‘conversion’? (There is no PAL v NTSC settting for ProRes)

Will I run into trouble when I print to tape? Will I run into trouble if delivery is movie file. Do I need to convert to NTSC frame rate using Nattress or bring to facility?

Thanks very much for all your help

    David

Thanks for the advice Dave, I believe I’ve got the ‘original footage’ ie stock footage clips from news orgs. Interlaced upper field dominance.

I’ll take a look at Twixtor

    Cheers
