    Hello all,

I am working on a feature Doco shot on the RED camera. We are converting the red file to AppleProRes HQ (as the proxy files proved to be too unstable). At the moment I am exporting the Redfiles directly from FCP via a preset and then reimporting them as Prores to use in the edit. I have not been able to make the log and transfer function work. Is this the most efficient way of working? Or should i be using the batch function within compressor? Also. I have access to a 2nd Macpro and was wondering if I could network the two together to maximise the processor use? This is not something I a have done before but if it could speed up the transcoding process that would be great.

I am working on FCP 6.0.3 with QT 7.5.
The Redfiles are sitting on G-tech drive with a firewire 800 connection and are being exported to a G-tech e-Sata raid array.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

    Benjamin

The Log and Transfer method has always worked fine for us. However, if you want to speed up the process you can create a render cluster through QMaster and render the files out twice as fast. I was told this was possible at an Apple sponsored even here in LA, but they didn’t actually show how it was done. They did say that with three Xserves it was possible to get real-time transcoding into ProRes HQ.
