  • Use stroke effect on paths from Illustrator file in After Effects?

Posted by Stephen Pickering on April 22, 2013 at 4:37 pm

    Hi there,

I’m wondering if it’s possible to save an illustrator file in such a way for it to be used in After Effects, retaining it’s paths. I would like to use the Stroke effect then to reveal (or draw) the paths.

I know I can draw masks in AE and then apply the stroke effects to stroke all masks sequentially, but it’s much easier to draw/write in Illustrator than AE.

Am I hoping for something impossible?

    Thanks!

If you have AI and AE open at the same time, you can select your paths in illustrator, copy them and then paste them to a solid in AE.
