Use ‘Render Instances’ on Spline Wrapped Clone?

June 17, 2010 at 2:55 pmHi everyone,
I’m working on a project that involves the creation of winding, banking streets (and powerlines, etc). I’ve created a single tile of road with street lines, telephone poles, etc. I am then taking this tile and cloning it along Z to create a long stretch of road. I then apply a spline wrap to my clones and create my desired shape. While this workflow is succeeding, I would like to use the “Render Instances” feature in order to reduce render times. When enabled, this button seems to override the spline wrap and merely place the tiles in unwrapped segments on the spline.
I’ve tried placing the cloner within a null and applying the spline wrap to said null, but that didn’t work.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
