use luma map to displace position
I would like to use a luma gradient map to effect the position value on individual layers. For example:
Start with:
a) a row of shape layers laid out horizontally across the comp
b) a white-to-black horizontal gradient map off the left side of the compAs the gradient map moves from left to right across the comp, each shape layer’s y-position increases as the luma value behind it increases from black to white.
There must be an expression or string of expressions that can achieve this. Any ideas?

You have to use the sampleimage function to drive (in any way you like) the yPosition value of your layers…
Something like this: 12142_sampleimage.aep.zip
