I just saw that on the panasonic site. WOW!

thanks Walter- this particular monitor, the Westinghouse (not a brand I would normally even look at) has been really highly praised by numerous magazine tests; and I figured being Full 1080 HD _and_ having DVI and HDMI connections, it would give me a nice sharp image. one thing i am annoyed with in my current NEC monitor is the “lag” of video image motion in the edit windows. Even the Mac monitors only offer 14ms motion response, whereas all the high end home HD LCDs offer 8ms or less = much less smearing. anyway, that is what is driving my thinking. The consumer LCDs are now entering the 7th Gen imagers so I am hoping for some decently sharp performance, and since the Westinghouse is a 37″ HD for $1400, maybe it is worth a look at compared to the smaller (30″) Mac??
    thanks again

Dell also has a 30″ and it is in the $1400.00 price range.

I have the Westinghouse 19″ version, which is 1400×900 (odd size I know). I use it as a second monitor to expand the Pro Tools mixer but it could easliy be used for FCP bins, etc. As far as the resolution – I have it side-by-side with the 20″ Cinema display and it actually looks good. It’s not quite the resolution, but the contrast and color are very good. I bought it as a client monitor to output from the FCP HD system, which worked ok until I could afford the Panasonic.

The only problem I have had is that when it’s turned off by the switch (not in stand-by), it takes about ten minutes before it warms up and loses some really ugly pixel noise.

[Ray Sigmond] “Has anyone tried the Panasonic TH-37PH9UK
37″ Plasma Display? It is selling for $1,200 at NewEgg”

That’s the one we’re going to put into our secondary suite either right at the end of this year or first thing next year. We’ll install two Component input boards like we did with our 50″.

And, they have the 42″ TH-42PH9UK for just $99 more. Thats amazingly inexpensive. High def for the masses is certainly here now…
