  • Use 422 LT for Sony NEXVG10 Transfer?

I want to ingest footage shot on my Sony NEXVG10 into FC. I want the closest lossless output I can achieve going to Blu-Ray.

Is the ProRes 422(LT) codec plenty for me to use to ingest from this camera? Do I really gain anything (other than twice and three times the file size!) using 422 or 422(HQ)?

I recall reading somewhere that depending on the BIT rate, it is a waste of space to ingest with a higher codec when the lower codec will capture a lossless picture just fine.

Thanks in advance for a clarification.

    Wherever I am…I’m lost!

Everything down from Uncompressed down degrades the picture.
You may see it or not, but compression is there.

That statement goes against all the laws of the physics .
If a low data-rate is enough, why to bother in adding higher data-rate options?
    What are for Uncompressed options?
There is trade data-rate/quality; is to you to chose what is more convenient for your workflow, but be aware of the pros and cons.
    Best,
