Hello. We are having an issue with our Onyx Blackjack 2×2 USB Interface. We are recording directly into Audacity on a Mac using a USB 2.0 interface. After about 5 minutes of recording, the signal becomes distorted and continues to worsen from that point on. I have attached a sample audio file and waveform. If you look at the waveform, it’s almost as if there is a ghosting effect on the waveform, and the audio is quickly repeated in a digitally distorted manner.

A session will start off normal, but after about 5 minutes it will drift into something like this.

We are recording at 48000Hz at 16 bit.

Thanks. I really appreciate any help. My guess is that it’s a USB latency issue, but I could be way off.

Hello Al and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

I don’t know what would cause that, but maybe it’s a processor/heat issue. Which Mac are you using and how much RAM does it have?

Hmm, interesting. Can you try your rig on another Mac? If the same thing occurs, the problem is not your Mac. Please let us know what happens so we can “have it on the books.”
