    Ignorance is far from bliss.
Simply, the USB 3.0 hard-drive docks are half the price of the quad-interface ones. Feel free to laugh when I was disappointed at attaching my firewire 800 drive, then couldn’t daisy chain with the eSATA connection. Will the same happen with 3.0? Can I connect my 800 port to a dock, and daisy chain thru the 3.0? I realize I’d only get the FW800 speed, but don’t count on using that much longer.
Be great if I could use the new PC/Mac(finally) interface now. Thanking you for the read, let me know if you can…

you need a modern computer with a Thunderbolt port.
Then you can purchase this, and you can connect any damn thing that you want –

    Well Mr. Bob,

I’m honored. Copy that, hate to give money to Apple so I’ll probably Hackintosh there. So FTP’s don’t mix (i.e SDI/HDMI). My naivety comes from how I wish things could be, but each of these connection syndicates have a vested interest in not playing well with others. Thanks for the reality check…

but each of these connection syndicates have a vested interest in not playing well with others.

That is correct – and when “we” buy into the “new” technology, the “next great incompatible thing” will be released in 2015, and you will spend all over again. When will this end ? Never.
