Only if it’s a sustained data rate. In theory USB 2.0 is fine for even DVCPro HD editing, but it doesn’t work because it can’t maintain a sustained data rate like Firewire, SATA and Fibre.
Right now we get almost 500MB/s on our eSATA systems with sustained data rates of no less than 400MB/s.

By the way, just noticed your thread title is wrong.
It’s gb as in Gigabits. Not GB as in GigaBytes. The USB 3.0 is going to move in a much smaller data rate transfer than 4GB.

The current USB 2.0 version has a top data-transfer rate of 480 megabits per second, so a tenfold increase would be 4.8 gigabits per second.Gigabits. That’s not going to replace Fibre Channel anytime soon.
