I’m getting pretty basic here, but I’m having difficulty getting a USB hub to work with this G5 I’m using. Any ideas of why it wouldn’t work? I’ve found that my external hard drives don’t get along with the G5. Is that just me? Even with firewire — makes video hard to edit with only an internal.

    Thanks everyone.

I’ve had problems using USB with external drives and if your editing in 8 bit or a high end codec unless you have firewire 800 your picture can chunk up anf you can have all sorts of mayhem.

[Paul Dzurec] “…my external hard drives don’t get along with the G”

Most everyone’s do, so describe how yours “don’t get along,” with specifics- G5 model, OS version, what happens, etc.

With regard to USB hub, is it a powered hub or are devices plugged into it at least self-powered or are they relying on bus-carried power out of the G5?
Also, there are posts here almost daily about the inadvisability of using USB 2.0 drives as media drives.
