  • Urgent! Timecode Synch problems with two cameras

I am going to Vietnam to shoot a documentary and bringing my current “A” as well as my new “B.” I want to set the cameras up so that both cameras have the same timecode. I’ve gone through the instructions on Page 2 of the B manual, approached it very methodically and followed the instructions. Even had my engineer (I’m station manager of a government tv station) go through it with no success. We can get the player on the B (in this case the slave camera) to display the A’s (Master camera) timecode (using the 1394 firewire connection in the player mode, but when we put the B into camera mode the B looses connection with the A’s timecode and doesn’t sync anymore.

Anyone have any suggestions and possibly e-mail me a work flow that would allow me to sync these cameras together. I called Panasonic Tech Support, got a busy signal with no way to talk to a technician.

Thanks ahead of time for your help.

I assume the remote control does NOT control both the A and B cameras at the same time?

If it does, you’re in luck, as your can simply use the remote control and the menu function to set the time code in the “free” mode. This is typically how it is done, at least w/two cameras from the same generation.

    Can’t help w/the firewire issue.

    Good luck,

    Tim

It only works in free-run mode, in TC Preset. Set both cameras to Free Run and TC Preset, and set the “B” to “DV TC IN”. Then link ’em and press the button.

You cannot use the feature in Rec Run mode, or Regen.
