We’re shooting a movie with Panasonic’s VARICAM at 23.98 fps and have an older DVCPRO HD deck with no firewire support (the AJ-HD130DCP). I’d like to capture from the deck HD-SDI to Final Cut Pro through Deckline HD Pro maintaining the source quallity. I read that Final Cut Pro will only admit this frame rate via firewire. Is this true? Is their a workaround?

Thanks to everyone in advance, Alex.

Nope, not true. You can edit Varicam material at 23.98 uncompressed via HD-SDI. You need to make sure your hardware is compatible with that frame rate.
