  • URGENT! AGP graphics card needed on a MacBook Pro?

    Posted by Alan Langdon on August 18, 2006 at 8:44 pm

    I have just bought a MacBook 1.1 (Intel Core Duo) 2 GHZ 1 Gb RAM
    as well as Final Cut HD 4.5. I am running Tiger 10.4.6.

    Why can’t I run FCP 4.5 HD? When I launch the program, it says :

    CONFIGURATION ERROR
    This software certain hardware or software which is missing.
    * AGP Graphics card

    Is this what I believe it is? Do I have to buy FCP 5?

    Any info much appreciated!

    Alan,

    I may be wrong here, but I believe FCP isn’t supported on the MacBook… only the MacBook Pro. They’ve decided to really draw the line between consumer and pro hardware and software. For what it’s worth, you could run FCE. I know you don’t want to run FCE… you want to run your copy of FCP that you already own. I’d be pissed too if someone told me that.

    Sorry man… hope I’m wrong.

    Did you look at Apple’s specs?
    Ed

    This from Apple:
    Final Cut Pro 4 through Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 require a computer with an AGP video card for installation. PowerMac G5 (Late 2005) models (released October 19, 2005) and iMac G5 (iSight) models feature newer PCI Express video cards. Because of this, you can’t install Final Cut Pro 4.x on these computers. Final Cut Pro 4.x is not supported on these computers.

    Final Cut Pro 3.x and earlier do not work in Max OS X 10.4 Tiger. Because Power Mac G5 (Late 2005) and iMac G5 (iSight) models require Mac OS X 10.4.2 or later, you can’t install Final Cut Pro 3.x or earlier versions on these computers. Final Cut Pro 3.x and earlier versions are not supported on any computer running Mac OS X 10.4.

    To use Final Cut Pro on Power Mac G5 (Late 2005) or iMac G5 (iSight) computers, please upgrade to Final Cut Studio.
