    Hi Everyone

I have digged in HD-DVC Pro footage using HD-DVC PRO 720P30 codec The problem is when I play the footage in the viewer the timecode ges up to 59 frames but when I put the footage on the timeline it goes up to 29.97.

Also the digitized footage is out of snyc with the footage on tape by 30 sec.

I don’t kno whats going on

    Any advice is much appreciated.

    Cheers

    Zee

What is so urgent? There is nothing wrong…take a deep breath.

You shot 720p30…that is a 30 frame codec. Now DVCPRO HD records this on a 60 frame tape, but when you capture, it captures only the 30 frames. Look at that source timecode. See how it doesn’t go 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06…and so on? It skips numbers. This is normal. If you shot 24p then the timecode would really skip.

Now, in the 720p30 timeline, there is no rendering, right? Then you are fine. No problems here.

Move along…nothing to see here…move along.

    Hi

    Thank you for your reply.

I have a few corrections to make.

[Zeliha] “Also the digitized footage is out of snyc with the footage on tape by 30 sec.”

Its out by 30 frames NOT seconds.

    Also I digitized the footage I using DVCPRO-HD 720p60 not 30.

I also test digitized a tape using the DVCPRO-HD 720p30 settings the digitized clip was still at 59 frames ps in the wiever and in the timeline.

On the deck it is playing at 29fps. So when I compare the captured footage with the footage in the 1200 deck they are out of sync.

So does this mean no matter what setting 30/60 you capture a DVC-PRO footage Final Cut Pro will alway take it in as 59.97frame?

    Thanks

    Zee.
