Uprgrading FCP, Lose Projects?
COMPUTER SPECS:
Model Name: iMac/ runs on Tiger
Model Identifier: iMac5,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.33 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHzI have FinalCutPro5 and wish to udpate to FinalCutPro5.1,
will this affect any of my current 3 projects I am in the process of editing. Will I still be able to open projects made from FCP5?Thanks

Just a suggestion…never update when you’re in the middle of a project unless you absolutely have to. You said you have 3 open projects? Wait till they’re done!

That is not a free update, it is a payed upgrade. And unfortunately FCP 5.1 is no longer sold, you will most likely need to move to Final Cut Studio 2 which has FCP 6.
You say you are on an intel iMac but running FCP 5. Im surprised that it even let you install FCP5 on there because FCP 5 does not support intel Macs. That is why FCP 5.1 was released was so that you could run FCP on a intel Mac

Yeah,
It says my version is FCP 5.0
And in software update it says Pro Applications Update 2008-05 1.0
I automaticly figured it wanted to update my FCP to 5.1…

Yea that update is not the update that will take you to 5.1
What Tony said about doing updates mid project is completely true though.
Seeing as how you are on an intel mac and not using a Intel compatible version of FCP I highly recommend upgrading to the newer version that is fully Intel compatible.
