Uprezzed footage not suitable for blu-ray?
Hi,
I am just out of an odd meeting with a Blu-Ray replicator we may be about to use.
To cut a long story short, I was essentially told that a product we have recently authored to CMF blu-ray master, cannot be called blu-ray as it contains uprezzed/scaled SD footage. The apparently offending footage was processed via an MxO from digibeta to 1080i50 (dcvpro HD codec). The final master was encoded to 1080i50 MPEG2 @ 24MB and the authoring house had no issues using it to produce the CMF.
Now because of this footage, I am being told that we cannot replicate and call it blu-ray.
Does this sound right? Does everything on a blu-ray have to been shot or generated HD?
If this is true, it is certainly going to cause many issues going forward for us as much of our archive is SD.
Anyone experienced this?
