I tried to ask this question on the FCP site but didn’t really get a good answer.

If you shoot on the P2 in 16:9 SD and you want to up res it later to work into a HD project, how do you do this? What if you want to archive the contents on a Blue Ray or LTO and then a year from now you want to use it in an HD project. How do you go about up resing the mxf files? Or downresing I guess is just as valid of a question while I’m on the subject?

My FCP system has a AJA LH board.

You mean if you shoot standard definition and later want to make it into HD? There’s about a million ways to go about this- hardware upconverts, algolith, tape to tape, etc. But if you even think you would go HD you should just shoot HD, that’s the point of the camera. Or did I misunderstand your question?

Yeah, why do that? Shoot HD, then downconvert for your current need. Then you have the HD version for the later HD need. It is always a better picture to downconvert than to upconvert.

WOuld having stock footage in the Native DVCPRO HD codec be of any interest to anyone? What about PHOTOJpeg .mov that will work with almost any NLE or graphics software??

A couple of companies already do this, Thinkstock for one. Corbis will deliver in DVCPROHD if you ask.
