  upres 720p to 1080i

  Hi,

  I’m starting compositing on a job for some spots that are finishing in 720p 23.98 (shot on dvcpro hd). The client is a broadcast sports channel and says we can give them 1080i uncompressed quicktime files to go to air.

  Is there a way to do the converstion in AE, render from a 720p 23.98 comp to 1080i? Wouldn’t the usual framerate for 1080i broadcast be 29.97 and thus I’d need to add pulldown as well?

  Or do I need a plugin to do this? I believe the Algolith plugins will do this but I just checked their site and couldn’t find them, maybe they’ve been discontinued. Are there other plugins or a softare way to do this upconvert? I’d prefer not to go to a post house and use a Terranex if possible, if only to save the time going back and forth.

  Also, I have a AJA Kona LH, I think it does cross converts now, but I believe thats only if I played it out over HD-SDI. I think if I just dropped a 720p clip into a 1080i timeline it would not look good.

  Any info to point me in the right direction would be appreciated, thanks!
