Yes, Vegas is backwards compatible to 7, and they can both be installed on the same PC.

But remember that not all plugins for Vegas that worked in previous versions, will work in vegas 9 pro.

You know, 9 pro has been so full of problems that they should just go ahead and release 9c as version 10 and make it a free upgrade. 9 is getting as bad a name as Windows Vista had.
