  • Upgrading to Tiger and FCP Studio, do I need to install FCP4.5 again?

I will soon be upgrading two of our systems from Panther and FCP 4.5 to Tiger and FCP Studio. We bought the “upgrade” package to FCP Studio, and each version of FCP we have bought, all the way back to FCP3, are all “upgrades.” So when I go to Tiger, and completely wipe the system drives for the upgrade, will I need to re-install all those old versions of FCP before I ultimatly go to FCP Studio? Or can I just directly install FCP Studio and just like enter the serial numbers from the old versions or something? I’ve heard you can do this with apps like Photoshop, will it work with FCP?

No…. you don’t have to install FCP 4.5 to install and upgrade package of FCS 5.0. It will ask you in the setup for your previous serial number however. That’s the only place you need it. Final Cut Studio comes with its own serial number, so you’ll have to enter than one when it asks you to do so.
