    Question:

I have a G5 with FCS 1 installed that I paid full price for and I own the license.

I am purchasing a new Intel Macpro.

Do I have to buy a completely new version of FCS3 to install on this new mac or can I just buy the FCS3 upgrade and will it install on the new Macpro without FCS1 being installed on it?

    Per the Apple website:

“The Final Cut Studio upgrade provides an upgrade path from Final Cut Studio 2, Final Cut Studio 1, Production Suite, or any prior version of Final Cut Pro. Academic and Not-For-Resale (NFR) versions are not eligible for upgrade.”

You don’t need to have the old version installed, but you will need to enter your old serialnumber.
