I am considering upgrading from Express HD to Final Cut Pro. I am using a DP 1.4Meg G4 with a dual drive Firewire 800 500gig. which I don’t want to have to upgrade. I am satisfied with the HDV performance and image quality of my new Z1 camcorder going to Final Cut Express HD’s codec HDV.
Can I use Express’s consumer codec when recording to Final Cut Pro? If I use my G4 how many streams can I expect if I use native HDV? I miss many of the pro features like a built in WFM and have the ~$550 upgrade cost. Any advice would be welcome.

You can still use the intermediate codec that FCE uses… don’t think with a G4 you’ll get a ton of RT with native HDV though…
