So the facility I work at just got the new Studio2 and we are holding off upgrading until we know our XSan will be happy. Will we need to update our XSan software in order to use the new Studio without problems? We currently are at version 1.4.

Our XSan rep takes his time to get back to us and never responds to our questions….

If anyone in the Bay Area recommends another vendor/provider other than ASG, who we’ve had nothing but problems with, please let me know….

    Thanks,

    Steve

If this matters: we are using G5s. not the new Intel machines.

Also, related – if we add an Intel box to our 5 suites, are we going to have problems mixing Intel with G5’s? Should we wait to upgrade all 5 to Intel?

We have 4 G5’s and 2 Intel macs running flawlessly off of our XSAN. If setup and maintained properly you should have no problems.

    Steve,

We’ve got a mix of Intel’s, G5’s, imacs and even PC’s all running off of our X-SAN. We’re just starting to roll out “2” and so far, no problems. Make sure that your OS is up to date on all boxes (both servers and clients).

    Don’t fear this upgrade… it’s worth it.

As for your vendor, I’d suggest finding someone who really wants your business.

    Hi Steve,
We have clients running FCS2 on two XSans so far with no problems reported yet.

Do note however that FCS2 has only been shipping for about two weeks, so the experience is extensive.

I have checked with our tech rep at Apple and he says he doesn’t have any reports of issues yet.

I am sorry you feel that way about ASG, we will try harder for you.

    Dave
