  • Upgrading to AE Pro 7 for Mac?! ARRRGGHHH!

Posted by Malcolm Desoto on June 7, 2006 at 3:37 am

So, I just bought After Effetcs Pro 5.5 because I wanted a version to put on my mac. Come to find out, you can only upgrade up to AE Pro 6 for a Mac? What? arrrgggggg!

Anyone have any clues on when you will be able to upgrade to 7?

Should I just buy the $200 upgrade now and upgrade again when 7 becomes available?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

P.S. I searched this subject in past threads for awhile, but was unable to find anything relevant to my question. If there is a thread discussing this topic, feel free to direct me to it. Once again, thank you.

You should be able to upgrade to AE7. I don’t see any reason why Adobe wouldn’t want to take your money. 🙂 (In fair exchange for AE7, of course.)

If you’re having problems, you’re probably best off calling Adobe’s customer service line.

Well, I’ll check into it then. Maybe I was just being dense when I looked at the site. Thanks.

Well, I must be missing something very fundamental. It seems that you can only upgrade to Pro 6?

    Please help a dim wit.

Ah… What that menu is saying is that you can upgrade from either AE Pro or AE Standard and get AE7 Pro.

If you’re upgrading from a previous version of AE Pro, you obviously wouldn’t already have AE7 Pro, so it’s listing the previous versions of AE Pro: 3.x-6.x.

If you’re upgradeing from AE Standard, you could have any version of AE, so it’s listing every version of AE Standard: 3.x-7.0.

Oh! Duh! Bwa ha! What a reliefe! Thanks. I just didn’t want to spend the money if I couldn’t get the most recent version. Well, time to upgrade. Man, talk about a brain block.
