    I’m ready to buy a new Mac for editing. Looking for suggestions as to the best choice. I prefer a table top over a laptop, but want to make the right “long term” choice. Thanks in advance for your help. FYI, I’m using FCP and looking at Premier.

    My PC-using buddies tell me they can build a tower today, slightly cheaper, with faster graphics and processors than the new Mac Pro Cylinder is promising whenever they start delivering.

    All I know is, getting a new imac on Mavericks OS or a new Mac Pro Tower, means leaving FCS3 and Final Cut 7 behind, either for FCP-x or Premiere. I strongly suspect that Mavericks OS will not run FCS 3 or FCP7, and why would they bother; it’s a 64-bit world now, for better or worse.
