I am in mid-project running 5.1.2. Would it be safe to upgrade to 5.1.4? I had problems in the past bringing projects over to a different computer running a different version. The project wouldn’t even open. Thanks again.

Unless you have an overwhelmingly compelling reason to do so,
    don’t.

Thanks Jim. The reason I was asking was that I am working on 5.1.2 and are already into the project. An editor that is going to help me is working in 5.1.4 and we can’t seem to find a download on Apple’s site for the 5.1.2??? If you know where we can find that I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your help.

That may qualify as a compelling reason to upgrade.
I’d back up my current boot drive to an external firewire using SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner, which make bootable backups, then do the upgrade. If you have issues, then you can always go back to the back-up.
