  • Upgrading Macbook pro for Motion 4

    Hi

Motion 4 runs a little slow on my Macbook Pro when dealing with a lot of effects. I have a 2008 model 2.4ghz Core 2 duo with 2GB of DDR2 SDRAM.

I was thinking of adding an extra 6 gig ( 2×4 gig ) to speed up rendering, running speed etc. Or would a smaller upgrade to 2 gig suffice?

    Thanks

More RAM will increase the number of frames that can be loaded into memory and played back in real time, but won’t do much for you in terms of performance. Motion’s performance is dictated primarily by your graphics card, which does all the heavy lifting. And you can’t change the card in a laptop. That said, 2GB is very low and I’d highly recommend at least 4.

the new mbp 17 seems to have the power to run almost anything
the question of the day will it melt when it overloads, apple is into
the thinness thing not the reality of useability, so we shall see. i am debating between a Mac pro or a laptop, it would be awesome to have a laptop run everything i need it too, without crashing or locking up. i want to run CINEMA 4D on this NEW laptop
we shall see what is up soon enough.
