  • upgrading libraries and ONE keeps crashing

All my libraries were created in 2017 in 10.3X and now I’m up to 10.4, I’ve been asked to upgrade them all… no problem. Except for one and yes, it’s the one I need.

I’ve done all of the things I’d do….
    file>open – crash
    double click to open -crash
drag and drop it onto FCPX icon – crash
Drag and drop it onto the UI, when FCPX is open – crash

I’ve duplicated it for safety’s sake and opened the package and deleted all the render files and plist and it still crashes.

OH, also trashed my prefs and it still crashes.

There are no motion stuff or plugins inside. All done with FCPX effects that are default.

Also, there are no backups as our machines are purged regularly.

Am I facing the prospect of extracting the original media and starting again? Or is there something I’ve missed and should be trying?

Is the media managed or external?

    Thanks Jeremy,

All materials are managed in the library.

[Lawrence Eaton] “All materials are managed in the library.”

    Hmm.

My guess would be some sort of botched piece of media somewhere.

Since you have a duplicate, try opening the package contents and delete the “CurrentVersion.flexolibrary” file and reopen.

Sounded good and even produced results Jeremy. In that fcpx opened, fleetingly. Then decided to crash.

I’m thinking I have some long nights ahead…..

But thank you for the suggestion.

I think the next step would be to tear out the media, unfortunately. Is there any warning or dialogue that comes with the crash?

no warnings, just “Goodnight Vienna” and a large error report to be sent back to Cupe.

Here we go, the clock starts…… coffee please!

So there is an error, the one that goes to Cupertino.

I’m there it should say which thread crashed and may point to the problem.
