  • Upgrading File from 4.5 to 5.1

Posted by John Marsh on August 15, 2006 at 4:50 am

Hi. I upgraded from fcp 5.1. New projects and most projects Ihave which originated in 4.5 easily upgrade, but I have an older project that crashes everytime I try and open it. I used to work well in 4.5 a couple months ago when I was editing it. Now it just won’t open… starts to load and convert and crashes. I’ve tried every setting? Any way to recover this cutting list?

Re-open the project in 4.5. Rename it. Open the newly named project in 5.1.

I took my FW external drive to school and project opened in 4.5.
I saved it with new name. then I opened it on a school machine running 5.1. It opened (missing a couple files on my HD at home.) I took this file hope and tried to open it on both my G-4 dual (running 5.1) and my IMac-G-5 running 5.1. Both the 4.5 renamed file and the saved new 5.1 file crashed at 67% opening? Does this mean some corrupted files or preferences? something else?
I regularly move programs etc. between computers, never have this problem.
