  • Upgrading Computer. Do I need AJA Kona 3x ?

Posted by Pierre on February 9, 2008 at 6:00 pm

I’m currently working with an AJA Kona 3 which I bought about two years ago. I’ve got it installed to my Powermac Quad G5.

I’m thinking of upgrading to a new 8 core mac pro. Will my kona 3 still work with it or do I have to get the “x” version. I’d prefer not to if there is a work around.
    thanks,
    michael

No. Your Quad G5 is PCIe as is the MacPro. You are golden.

The X is only for older model PCI-X machines such as the old G5 Dual 2.0. You’re good to go with the new machine and Kona 3.
