    “(1) Windows-Delayed Write Failed”

I got this error once and did a lot of research into what could be causing it. I found that there was no one single cause, but thousands. If you google this, you will find tens of thousands of hits. And almost every one of them with different “causes” blamed. This is a bug that can’t be duplicated under controlled conditions, so it’s practically impossible to focus on a cause let alone fix it.

This error is like the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) and ARF (Abort, Retry, Fail) error from days past where something went wrong and the software nor the O/S can figure out what.

What seems to be the most common link with this error is external USB drives.

In my case, (after weeks of hair-pulling) I simply moved the offending USB device to another USB port.

It’s never come back to bother me since. Go figure.

I had this error a long time ago when I was using my Firewire/USB drives in Firewire mode. Since I switched to USB mode… never had the problem again. So… just wanted to give yet another example of this to prove there really are 10,000 reasons for this.

In nmy experience USB drives have been far more reliable for capture/editing than firewire. Not sure why.

    Hi Liam,

I’m just now fiding this out and I’m glad to see that others, such as yourself, had the same problem as me. I was going crazy the last few days thinking what could be the problem. I had to unload Vegas 6 and DVDA3 to see if that was part of the problem. That message seems to have stopped poping up. I’m running Vegas5 & DVDA2 right now until I get a hold of another computer. I’m running a Dell P3 with Windows XP Professional right now. The search continues for a new computer.
It’s been nice meeting you at NAB and what a Fantastic turn out at the Sony Party.

    Moooooooooooo!

    Ralph,

Take a look at the Dell 9300 insperion.. they have a discount coupon floating around for a $750 discount. Get the Nvidia go6800 card with it, so you have a 17 inch screen on the Dell and DVI out to an HD TV or a second monitor. It is a great laptop for the price.

Here’s a good referance site for you:
