Upgrade or buy new computer for AE CS5
Heya, I need som advice here.
I’m looking to get som better hardware for my work, primarily in AE, Premiere and PS (CS5), but don’t know if I should get a new rig or upgrade my old one. My budget is around $2500 – $3000.
What I currently have is a Dell Precision 490 with 12GB of RAM, one Xeon 5130 processor and a Quadro FX 570. I’m thinking of getting one more processor, a better graphics card and some more RAM and use my budget on that. However, I’m not sure if I would get better or worse performance if I buy a completely new system for the same amount of money.
All advice would be appreciated!

If you’re just using AE, the graphics card doesn’t matter. Well, very little.
Processor speed and RAM are your two biggest concerns. If I were you, I’d get as much of both as possible. Search the forums for recommendations. This sort of question tends to get asked a lot.– The Great Szalam
