Upgrade Immediately or Wait a Week/Fortnight/Month
I realize Apple is pretty hush hush when it comes to new releases, but has anyone heard any rumors about upgraded Mac Pro’s? Might announcements be made at the Worldwide Developers Conference next week?
It just kind of “feels” like an upgrade in specs is around the corner and the last time I bought a Mac, my Powerbook got a huge bump in the “standard” graphics card a couple weeks after I made the purchase so I’m just trying to keep my ear to the ground this time.
Any thoughts? I do have to buy within the next “little bit”, but if it means a bump in specs or a decrease in price, I can certainly hang on a bit longer.

Hmm, would you care (be able) to elaborate as to why? Is it just a gut feeling or is something imminent? One exclamation point and I would have thought just sound advice, but two exclamation points make me think you’ve heard rumblings 🙂

Sure won’t hurt then to wait until the WWDC conference next week, however Mac Pro’s got updated not 2 months ago… so if history repeats itself, it’s unlikely they’ll be updated again before the Fall…

The only real potential candidates for updates would be the iMacs or the Mac Mini (If it isn’t dead. The MacPros are very UNLIKELY to get an update at WWDC.

I want to buy a Octo Core. I could do it now but I will wait at least untill the end of the year.
I’ve got a G5 2x2Gb, one of the first butch. Now it’s works fine, but I spent the 6 first month or so desperate. Everything freezed every 15 minutes. In the Apple forums they where hundreds of posts with the same problem but Apple didn’t say a word about.
I don’t want to be again aguinea pigg. To wait doesn’t cost much money. To run can be expensive.

The only potential Mac Pro news was regarding some future Intel stuff.

It would not hurt to release the already available octo with Blue-Ray – or something like that though….

That would be great. I look forward to buy me a Panasonic 200, and the Blue-Ray is the only affordable system to archive DVCProHD footage.

Hi,
Unfortunately Apple’s secrecy makes it impossible for their customers to make these decisions, that said I have a different opinion.
When the complete line or most of the line gets updated (normally about every six month’s for Mac workstations) another update within two or three months is very unlikely.
I’m am not that confident that 2 month’s after adding a model to the lineup that an update of the full line is that far off. I think we could easily see a refresh of the entire line within a month or two.
