    Hello all,

I am nesting two comps and setting them up side-by-side to show a 2-channel video. When I make changes to the original sequence those changes aren’t reflected in the comp in which it is nested. For example, it I open the nested sequence up from within the new comp and make changesm they don’t seem to follow through on the orginal sequence. Seems odd. I am just dragging the sequence into the new one instead of using the Nest command, so perhaps that’s it. Any tips?

Also, I am getting some off interlacing issues with the nested footage. Deinterlace didn’t work and I hate to make it too soft using a blur, would a deflicker perhaps work? It’s basically around areas with sharp edges like eyelids. The original footage is DV at 30p. I’ve tried forcing the lower-field when going out to MPEG but that makes it worse.

I can clarify if any of this is confusing.

    Thanks!

Try breaking the nest’s relationship to the old information by dragging the opacity level down to 0% and back up again and see it that updates the nest for you.

Do this either in the motion tab, or if you work with timeline overlays, grab the black bar and drag it down and back up again.

From your description, it isn’t real easy to tell what’s going on….

    A couple of things:

    (1) Are you making changes to the original items in the nested sequence? If those two items were each sequences, and you change those sequences, the changes should propagate to the nested sequence (you may need to re-render things, as well, as applicable). Make sure you are not editing “browser” clips instead of “timeline” clips (if the timeline clips were nested), as the changes won’t propagate into the nested sequence. I have provided just a couple of brief descriptions… the real issue may be due to something else.

    (2) The “interlacing issue” in the nested sequence is likely due to the size of each nested item in the new sequence or the vertical position of each item, or both. Try shifting the vertical position of the nested items up or down, re-render if necessary, and check the results on an external monitor.

    Hope this helps….
