    Hello-

    I currently have an alenware pc-a51 aurora. I want to start editing hd using adobe premier pro. What is the ideal processors and memory for this? Also what capture and edit cards can you recommed?

    I recommend the fastest PC with the most cores that you can afford.

    You will want at least 1GB for each core. You probably can’t buy Windows XP anymore, but if not, CS4 will probably support Vista 64. So plan ahead.

    You should only need firewire, no special capture or edit card.

    Caveat: if you want to edit non-HDV HD, that is, less-compressed HD, you will need a higher-end capture/output card, and a large disc array (RAID). You might now be able to edit MXF files without the above, but I’m not sure. Too many damn formats these days. The nice thing about digital standards: there are so many to choose from.
