    Hey Adam,

Just to let you know we do offer almost 24 hour support. We have DaVinci support offices in Singapore, The UK (thats me!) and LA.

Between us we offer free support from any of our phone numbers or by mail at davincihelp@blackmagic-design.com

So please do send me (us) and email or call and I’ll do my best to help you out asap.

Also depending on your location I can put you in contact with a local dealer that may be able to offer you direct support.

    I hope this helps!

    Thanks,

    D

Or you just could NOT upgrade a stable production system in the middle of jobs.
Or you always can create a bootable clone before upgrading anything.

    >Or you just could NOT upgrade a stable production system in the middle of jobs.
    >Or you always can create a bootable clone before upgrading anything.

These last 2 options just come from experience.
It is common sense that you know from others or learn the hard way.

I can tell this talk here does not help but i hope it will help you next time.

Like I said, it’s a decision to be made by the facility engineer. It is generally not a good idea, but in this case, had it worked properly, it had the potential to save a full day’s worth of work over the weekend and it was decided to to go ahead and try it. As I also said, nothing was lost except a bit of time. Backups are essential, especially right before updates. I must add though, I am still quite surprised how diverted and lost some of these threads can really get. This thread very quickly went from discussing the potential causes of degraded performance and things to try to fix it, to a flame war prompted by my frustration with never being presented with an option to purchase a support plan. I did not mean for my comments to be interpreted as a dissatisfaction with the support Blackmagic has offered to us Mac Resolve owners for free. In fact I feel the exact opposite. The support they’ve offered is incredible. I meant only exactly what I said, that an option for a true support contract for those who need it would be welcomed. There are those who will understand that need, there are those who actually have the need, and there are those who have no idea what a support plan is.

    Adam.
The more you write the less sense you make.
    How is
“This situation is making me re-consider any further financial or workflow investment in Resolve.”
    turns into
” I did not mean for my comments to be interpreted as a dissatisfaction with the support Blackmagic has offered to us Mac Resolve owners for free. In fact I feel the exact opposite. The support they’ve offered is incredible.”
Which one is it, is it incredible support or you’re “re-consider any further financial or workflow investment in Resolve” because of lack of “true” support?
There is a “true” 24/7 Resolve support and no one in the right mind would spend $15k on a yearly support on a $1k investment.
All you had to do, is to keep a copy of your system drive and you could have just reverted your resolve back to 8.0.1 in exactly 5 minutes flat. No drama…

    Dan,

I am new to DaVinci Resolve and I was wondering if you had any recommendations on where to find good tutorials… I am a student so preferably somewhere that is inexpensive or free…. I’ve tried YouTube but have not been successful in finding good quality tutorials for beginners.

    Thanks,
