  • UPDATE on Audio/Video Sync issue

About a month ago I posted the post below. I want to thank everyone for their responses. Well it seems the final problem ended up being that my device control preset was in a different drop frame setting than my sequence and Beta deck. The deck and sequences were being set at non-drop while the device control preset was set to recognize a deck at 29.97 frames or drop frame. This setting also had a playback offset setting of 00:00:00;03. I created a new device control preset option for non-drop at 30 frames and switched the playback offset to 00:00:00;00. It has been a week and knock on wood. It has been locking up like a charm!!

I haven’t tested moving the deck and sequence to drop frame and then setting the device control preset back to 29.97 to see if everything stays locked up but I will.

Quick question…Is it better to lay to analog tape in drop or non-drop for best timecode accuracy and A/V syncing or does it matter?

    Thanks

    Lee

“Could a faulty Black Burst generator cause the audio to be 2 frames off on anything that is output to beta tape? Or could having to many BNC cables input into the Black Burst inputs throw something off. We currently have 3 cables hooked up and the other outputs are not out of sync so I doubt this is an answer.

Everything is locked up in the sequence but when it is output to beta the audio shifts forward 2 frames from the video. This is on the G4…FCP 4.5….Lacie 200 gig drives. I haven’t gotten to experiment yet plus we haven’t invested in a new black burst generator. I thought this would be a good place to start.

    Any comments are appreciated.

    Thanks
