    Be sure to read these!
There’s some cool stuff that finally got fixed or changed or updated to reflect industry conventions that have been in place for a decade. Not everything has actually been improved. Here’s one you may find really distasteful, I certainly did. If you do a lot of option-drag editing, (I used to, but I’m rethinking that now) you will need to add a new keystroke. Just like always, those FCP team guys made this change this without asking me.

It seems to me like this doesn’t change the interface much, it just means if you started moving a clip and snapping wasn’t on, but you want it on, you can just hold option and it will temporarily enable snapping. It’s faster than having to stop moving the clip, click N to enable snapping, then move the clip again. If you want snapping to stay off then simply don’t press option.

You have to press option if you want to enable the shuffle edit. What bogie is saying is that now, if you don’t want snapping you have to hit n to turn it off.

I think it’s handy, as most of the time when doing a shuffle edit you are going to want to swap the entire order (this is where snapping comes in handy) instead of insert the clip in between the ins and outs of one clip.

It changes the interface tremendously. Shffle editing is meaningless to me, never used it. What I need option-dragging for is trimming the video independently from the audio and this tweak makes that almost, but not quite, impossible.

Option-dragging in the timeline is to an operation I have been unable to reprogram from my Media 100 days. Since Apple has no disabled the function I employed in favor of improving something called Shuffling,, I’ve got no choice but to figure out a new way to work.

BTW: This new routine is supposed to return snapping to the same state it was in before you hit option. If you don’t want snapping on at all during the Shuffle, you’re supposed to add n to the keyboard combination. But this screws me up because now I have activated snapping so when the option -drag is finished, snapping remains on and I have to use another n or push the snap button to turn it off.

they should have asked me first, that’s all.

Your application of this feature/improvement is different than mine but you’ve got one or two of the steps and their reactions/results incorrect. If you don’t want snapping on during the option-drag, you add -n- to the mix. However, this leaves snapping on when you end the move and that requires another n or a push of the snapping button.

For me, this totally blows because I have to relearn how to do something I liked. (*Sigh.)

Dumba$Ses, they should have asked me first..

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
