My company is looking into purchasing stock footage for a product launch video that will be displayed on LCD screens.

This particular footage is shot in 24p HD and will be supplied in flattened QuickTime format. It delivers as a Photo-JPEG file in 1280 x 720 pixels dimensions at a frame rate of 24 fps.

We would need to upconvert to 1920×1080 in FCP to match our current footage in 1080i60.

Has anyone have any experience doing this, or recommend it? We are afraid once we purchase the footage, it will become too pixelated for the LCD screens.

We do a lot of software upconverting in After Effects or Shake. In either one you can up convert it and add a 2:3 pulldown to convert 23.98 to 60i so it will work for you.

There are also come capture cards that will crossconvert between 720p and 1080i and they look great!
