I am picking up After Effects again for the first time in three years (just as a pre-lim).

The animation I am working on is basically a simple temperature rising effect in a thermometer. I have animated a solid moving upwards behind a “cut-out” thermometer outline. Upon rendering for the first, second, third, etc. times, I noticed that the top edge of the solid looked as if it had been feathered slightly even though I hadn’t done any feathering. I double checked to make sure there wasn’t some unexpected feathering option in the Solids dialogue box that I had accidentally switched. In case it matters: I am using several keyframes in the Position trans drop down menu to get the variation in speed at which the “mercury,” or solid, rises. Also I have keyframed the brightness/contrast effect and color balance effect on the solid. Totally at a loss here; any suggestions would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
