So I have a Premiere CC project on my Windows machine. I copy the entire project over to a Mac-formatted drive so that I can take it home and work on it. Come back to the Windows machine (did NOT copy anything back from the Mac drive) and now all the video files are unlinked. Try to relink, and I get “unsupported compression type.”
Finally resolved the problem by re-ingesting the video files from the Windows hard drive using Prelude. This has happened on several projects.

But why does the simple act of copying the files unlink them? And is there a more efficient way to restore the files than re-ingesting?

Adobe seems to have solved the problem for me. One of their remote techs cleaned up my machine. I was busy editing a show on another deck, so I didn’t follow everything he did, but among the things he did was to manually delete all the media cache files, rename the users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\PremierePro\8.0 directory so that Premiere would generate new files, and update the graphics card driver. All things I should have known to do, I guess, but everything had been working fine until that last upgrade to 8.1.
