I’m using a Digital Rapids card with its Stream software (Mainconcept). Two audio types are offered: MPEG Layer2, and PCM.

Neither seems acceptable to PP. I’ve tried renaming the file extensions to .wav, and that doesn’t work.

I assume that I need to find a file conversion utility to create an audio file that PP likes, either AIFF, AVI, MOV, MP3, WAV, or WMA, according to the book. What do you recommend?

    Thanks!

    Bob,

Maybe DR card is creating RAW PCM files. SoundForge or Adobe Audition should be able to open them. You can then Export or Save As… a windows PCM (wav) file. You might have to change the file extension to .raw before SF or Audition will recognize them.

There are probably shareware utilities you can find that will make this conversion too.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Dave. I used a shareware utility, but for kicks tried renaming to .RAW and that looks as if it would work too. I have now gotten to the point where I realize I need to learn a whole lot more about 5.1 audio in PP — another post.

    Thanks again.
