  • Unsharp Mask without affecting alpha channel?

Posted by Dino Muhic on May 30, 2009 at 12:31 am

    Hi guys,

well the title says it all: How can I use the unsharp mask effect on keyed footage or just footage with alpha channels without affecting the alpha channel at all?
Just applying the effect make the alpha edges become very crisp and unusable….

Which way would you go? Different effect?

    Thanks

The problem occurs quite often. What you can do is to duplicate the layer and then apply the unsharp mask to the lower copy or layer. Then set this layer’s track matte to alpha.
